Goldstrike, the gold-armored leader of Wing Force, waving in front of the Aerie
Hero

Goldstrike

Leader of Wing Force

“Let’s clear the air!”
Power9 out of 10
Speed8 out of 10
Smarts10 out of 10
Teamwork10 out of 10

Base: The Aerie, a giant golden nest on a cliff above Comfort City.

Powers: Gold Feather glow, flight, Airflow Shield, Daybreak Beam flashlight and Foam Blaster. Tools, never weapons.

Funny flaw: Lecture Mode. Once he starts explaining, he can’t stop.

Origin: On a scorching summer day in Comfort City, a technician cleared a clogged drain line. A glowing gold feather drifted into his toolbox, and his work shirt turned into shining armor. He never throws a punch. The fix is the fight. The full story is CLASSIFIED.

Real Air Fact: Air travels in a loop through your home: in through the big return grille, through the filter, across a cold coil, and out the vents. Every villain attacks a different stop on that loop.

Talon, the eagle technician sidekick, perched on a copper pipe holding a wrench
Hero

Talon

Eagle Eyes of Wing Force

“Hmm, what do you notice?”
Power6 out of 10
Speed10 out of 10
Smarts9 out of 10
Teamwork10 out of 10

Base: The Aerie, where he runs the Fledgling Academy.

Powers: Eagle eyes that spot the tiniest clue, a wrench, a tool belt, and the Flight Log, where every clue gets written down.

Funny flaw: Too big to fly indoors, so he waddles. Can’t pass up a breakfast taco.

Origin: A young bald eagle flew south for the winter, landed outside Comfort City and decided to stay. His one gold tail feather glows whenever someone spots something important. That feather started the whole Wing Force. The full story is CLASSIFIED.

Real Air Fact: Real technicians work like detectives: look, listen, write down the clues, then find the cause.

Pure, the blue and silver armored hero, scanning with his blue scanner
Hero

Pure

The Odor Fighter

“Beep! Scanning…”
Power7 out of 10
Speed7 out of 10
Smarts10 out of 10
Teamwork9 out of 10

Base: Planet Aeris, far across the galaxy. Now he works from the Tinker Bench at the Aerie.

Powers: A scanner gauntlet that finds problems first, and a fog cannon that helps control odors. He fogs empty rooms only and never aims at anyone.

Funny flaw: Takes everything literally. Says hello to the fridge every single time.

Origin: Pure comes from Planet Aeris, home of the freshest air in the galaxy. One night his scanner caught a strange signal from a faraway planet: a bad smell. He followed it across the stars to the Aerie above Comfort City, and he hasn’t stopped asking questions since. The full story is CLASSIFIED.

Real Air Fact: A smell is a gas, made of bits far smaller than dust. That’s why an air filter can catch dust but can’t catch a smell.

Manny the Manufacturer, a hero built like an outdoor AC unit, holding a wrench and tablet
Hero

Manny the Manufacturer

The Builder

“Let’s see how it’s built.”
Power10 out of 10
Speed3 out of 10
Smarts9 out of 10
Teamwork9 out of 10

Base: The Compressor Kingdom, the land where machines are born. Now he works from the Tinker Bench at the Aerie and a rolling workshop in the Sky Swoop.

Powers: A belly fan that spins gold while he works, a torque wrench, a tablet full of plans, and the know-how to build any part on the spot.

Funny flaw: Too heavy to fly, and he sticks to the fridge. Solid steel.

Origin: Manny was built bolt by bolt in the King’s workshop in the Compressor Kingdom. When Wing Force got too busy, Talon sent a gold feather past the edge of the map. It slipped through Manny’s belly grille, his fan spun and his amber eyes blinked on. “They need a builder.” The full story is CLASSIFIED.

Real Air Fact: Manny is built like the outside part of a central AC: metal fins around the sides, a fan on top, a heavy pump inside. He opens his own panel to show you. Yours stays closed.

The Spore, a lumpy green villain with stink lines, in front of his swamp fortress
Villain

The Spore

The Stink in the Coil

“You can’t see me. But you can smell me.”
Power6 out of 10
Speed3 out of 10
Smarts7 out of 10
Sneakiness10 out of 10

Lair: The Green Hollow in Soggy Bottoms, a fortress shaped like a giant AC coil.

Tricks: Coil Crown, Dust Feast and the Wake-Up Wave.

Weak spot: Clean, dry coil fins and a fresh filter. “Light? Air? Soap? Disgusting!”

Origin: Dust slipped past an old filter and stuck to a wet coil all summer long. When the heat clicked on that fall, warm air rushed over the grime and two green eyes opened. “I was not born. I was GROWN.” The full story is CLASSIFIED.

Real Air Fact: That “dirty sock” smell when the heat or AC first turns on can come from a dirty, damp coil. A clean coil and a fresh filter help stop it.

The Invisible Swarm, a giant face made of swirling dust and gold specks
Villain

The Invisible Swarm

A Billion Specks, One Voice

“You can’t punch dust!”
Power5 out of 10
Speed8 out of 10
Smarts7 out of 10
Sneakiness10 out of 10

Lair: The Hollow Hall on Dust Mesa, behind a cliff-sized return grille. Henchman: Cedar Fever.

Tricks: Too Small to See, Hitchhike, The Back Door and Filter Smother.

Weak spot: Being caught and kept still. “No! Not STILL! We must FLOAT!”

Origin: A loose attic duct, a front door left open in pollen season and a stuffed filter let billions of specks pile up. When a sunbeam lit them all at once, they had one giant thought: “We are not small. We are MANY.” The full story is CLASSIFIED.

Real Air Fact: The sparkles floating in a sunbeam are dust, pollen and pet fur. Your air filter catches them as air flows through it.

Staticus, an armored giant made of crushed ducts, in his scrapyard lair
Villain

Staticus

Lord of the Crush

“Nothing gets through.”
Power10 out of 10
Speed2 out of 10
Smarts6 out of 10
Sneakiness7 out of 10

Lair: The Crush, a scrapyard maze of giant crushed ducts in Crushpile Canyon.

Tricks: The Crusher, Kink Knot, The Sag, Dust Wall and Shut Gate.

Weak spot: Air that flows freely. Every open path knocks a plate off his armor.

Origin: Squashed ducts, sharp bends and a filter nobody changed trapped the air with nowhere to go. On the hottest day of August, all that push dragged itself together into a giant of bent metal. (Say it: STAT-ih-kus.) The full story is CLASSIFIED.

Real Air Fact: Static pressure is how hard air has to push to get through your ducts. Squished ducts, a dirty filter or blocked vents make it push harder, and the air comes out weak.

Frostlock, an ice giant wrapped in frozen copper pipes, in front of his ice castle
Villain

Frostlock

King of the Ice Keep

“Ice in July? That’s my specialty.”
Power9 out of 10
Speed3 out of 10
Smarts8 out of 10
Sneakiness7 out of 10

Lair: The Ice Keep on Frostcap Hill, a castle built around a giant frozen coil.

Tricks: Deep Freeze, Chain Lock, Warm Breath Trick, The Slow Leak and The Melt.

Weak spot: Moving air, and a sealed system with the right amount of refrigerant.

Origin: He began as one tiny bead of frost on a cold coil. Then the vents got closed, a couch blocked the return grille and the air stopped moving. The frost got hungry, and it grew until it cracked out of the closet as a giant. The full story is CLASSIFIED.

Real Air Fact: An AC can freeze up in the middle of summer when too little air moves across its coil, or when a leak lets refrigerant escape. Ice on an AC means it’s time to call a technician.

Heat Dome, a giant of cracked glowing rock with a sun crown
Villain

Heat Dome

The Sun-Crowned Giant

“Feel the heat!”
Power10 out of 10
Speed1 out of 10
Smarts5 out of 10
Sneakiness4 out of 10

Lair: The Blaze Yard on Scorch Flats, under a shimmering glass dome.

Tricks: Heat Press, Crowd Out, Grime Coat, Window Blaze and Long Afternoon.

Weak spot: Heat has to go somewhere. An outside unit with open space around it and a clean coil pushes him out.

Origin: On a record-hot July afternoon, weeds and pool toys boxed in a backyard AC unit. The heat had nowhere to go, so it pooled like a lid on a pot, then cracked like rock and stood up three stories tall. The full story is CLASSIFIED.

Real Air Fact: Your AC doesn’t make cold. It moves heat from inside your house to the outside unit, which blows it away. That’s why the outside unit needs open space around it.

Monsoon, a giant in dripping teal armor wrapped in fog
Villain

Monsoon

The Sticky Giant

“The thermostat says cool. I say sticky.”
Power8 out of 10
Speed1 out of 10
Smarts6 out of 10
Sneakiness8 out of 10

Lair: Steam Springs, a misty valley of steaming pools under a giant cave mouth.

Tricks: Short Blast, Second Wind, Shower Haze and The Clammy Touch.

Weak spot: He’s made of wet air. Pull the water out and he shrinks.

Origin: A too-big AC kept blasting cold and shutting off before it could dry the air. Add long showers with no bath fan, and the damp air pooled into a giant in dripping armor. He sat down on the couch with a long, slow sigh. The full story is CLASSIFIED.

Real Air Fact: Your AC pulls water out of the air while it cools. When it shuts off too fast, the water stays, and the house feels sticky.

Floodgate, a blocky iron villain leaking water, with a valve wheel on his shoulder
Villain

Floodgate

Keeper of the Clog

“Nothing drains. Nothing leaves. Everything comes DOWN.”
Power9 out of 10
Speed2 out of 10
Smarts6 out of 10
Sneakiness6 out of 10

Lair: Drip Pan Lagoon, a tilted metal pan the size of a lake, held back by his iron gate.

Tricks: The Lock, Rising Tide, The Spill, Window Warning and Shutdown.

Weak spot: Water always wants to go downhill. Open the line and he has nothing to hold.

Origin: Slime and grit built up inside a little AC drain pipe, year after year, until the water stopped. The pan filled, the clog held, and water, iron and clog fused into one being with one rule: nothing leaves. The full story is CLASSIFIED.

Real Air Fact: Your AC makes water and sends it outside through a drain line. Water dripping from a pipe over a window can mean the main line is clogged. Tell a grown-up!

The Surge, a jagged figure made of blue-white lightning
Villain

The Surge

The Storm Spark

“Lights flicker. I strike.”
Power8 out of 10
Speed10 out of 10
Smarts6 out of 10
Sneakiness7 out of 10

Lair: The Thunderhead, a storm-cloud castle over the Power Plains.

Tricks: Spike, Brownout Drag, Cap Crack and Contact Burn.

Weak spot: He has to pass through the Gray Box Gate. Guard the gate and many of his jolts slip away.

Origin: During a summer storm, a jolt of power raced into a backyard AC just as it started up. It didn’t fade with the thunder. It liked the tiny parts that start the machine, grinned a zig-zag grin and zipped into the clouds. BZZT! The full story is CLASSIFIED.

Real Air Fact: A power surge is a quick jump in electricity, often during storms. Surge protection can help guard an AC’s small electrical parts.
