Mold

When mold gets into your HVAC system, the work required to fix it legally spans two separate license categories under Texas law. Gold Eagle Services holds both – meaning we can execute the full scope of an HVAC mold protocol without bringing in a second contractor or leaving any part of the job unlicensed.

Why Dual Licensure Matters

Texas law requires two distinct licenses for HVAC mold work. The RCO license (Mold Remediation Company) covers the application of biocides, treatment of contaminated surfaces, and execution of a mold remediation protocol. The TACLA license (Air Conditioning Contractor) covers opening the system accessing plenums, ductwork, coil compartments, and air handlers.

Gold Eagle Services holds:

  • RCO1783 — Texas Mold Remediation Company License
  • TACLA119235 — Texas Air Conditioning Contractor License

Before hiring any company for HVAC mold work, ask to see both license numbers and verify them at tdlr.texas.gov.

Evaporator Coil & Air Handler Contamination

The evaporator coil and air handler sit at the heart of your system. They operate in exactly the conditions mold loves: dark, damp, and constantly cycling humid air. Mold growth here gets distributed through every duct in your home every time the system runs. Proper remediation requires accessing the coil compartment, executing a documented treatment protocol of the area.

Duct & Plenum Remediation

Supply ducts, return ducts, and plenum boxes can harbor mold growth long before it becomes visible at the registers. When a mold inspection or environmental assessment identifies contamination in the duct system, the remediation protocol typically requires physical access to affected sections, HEPA vacuuming, surface treatment, and in severe cases, duct replacement. We execute the full scope mechanical access and remediation under one protocol and one contractor.

Drain Pan, Condensate & Moisture Source Correction

Standing water in a condensate drain pan is one of the most common pathways to active mold growth inside an air handler. A clogged drain line, failed float switch, or improperly pitched pan can sustain moisture conditions that fuel ongoing contamination even after remediation. We address the mold and the moisture source.

Working With Mold Remediation Contractors

If you’re an MRC with a protocol that includes HVAC scope, we’re the call to make. We review protocols, provide scoped quotes on the HVAC portion, and execute the mechanical side of remediation so your project stays on track without subcontracting blind. We also work alongside environmental consultants and testing companies throughout Central Texas when post-remediation verification or clearance sampling is part of the protocol.

Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely. Send the protocol over and we'll review the HVAC scope, ask any clarifying questions, and set up a free on-site inspection if needed. We're comfortable working within an existing protocol and coordinating directly with the MRC or environmental consultant managing the project.
